SAN MARCOS, CA (ANS) -- Noted parenting and culture expert Al Menconi has announced the launch of an ambitious national program based on his popular Christian Music.
Partnering with ministries, schools, radio stations, and more, Menconi plans to reach thousands of parents and young people with his balanced, practical approach to spiritual development through media consumption discernment.
"A few years ago, during a conversation about the future of Al Menconi Ministries," Menconi recollected, "my advisory board asked me what it would take for me to have a contented smile on my face when I die? I really took their question seriously!
"After more than a month of prayer and thought, I realized I wouldn't be satisfied until our nation turned back to Christ and was living by Christian values."
According to a news release sent to the ASSIST News Service, Menconi has been educating families, one church, one school, and one convention at a time for the past 30 years - but starting this fall based on II Timothy 2:2, he will be using his Christian Music Diet to teach others to teach others. "If we are going to reach our whole nation to turn back to Christ and to live by Christian values, we must teach Christian teachers and leaders to teach others the principles of the Christian Music Diet!"
The Christian Music Diet is a challenge to eliminate negative entertainment from your life for a period of 30 days and to use Christian music to help you focus on "things above instead of on the values of this world" (Col. 3:2).
"It is crucial that we teach students how to think biblically and to involve their parents in the process of learning how to think biblically if we are going to turn our nation back to Christian values," Menconi continued.
"Ultimately, the problem is not entertainment and the answer is not Christian music. The problem is sin! And the answer is Jesus! Our entertainment choices help us focus our minds on life from the world's point of view or from God's."
Al Menconi Ministries is offering a wide array of resources to help churches and schools effectively implement the Christian Music Diet challenge, including the But It Doesn't Affect Me book and curriculum, as well as his book RECONNECT: When your kids are connected to everything but you.
Menconi stated, "Most, if not all, of our students believe their entertainment choices don't affect them. That is why it is crucial to give them a logical response with honesty, humor, and common sense."
